“So, the next president will come from Bicol. You have a choice of (Albay Rep. Joey) Salceda (and) (Sorsogon Governor Francis) Chiz Escudero,”

Though, it was not made clear if that statement was out of playful remark, according to the president’s spokeperson.

That was President Duterte’s mentioned during the situation briefing on typhoon “Tisoy” happened at the Legazpi City Convention Center on Thursday.

The chief Executive is confident that the next Philippine president will be a Bicolano.

Duterte assured that this Bicolano could be Albay 2nd District Representative Joey Salceda or former Senator and now Sorsogon Governor Francis "Chiz" Escudero.

The two mentioned lawmakers were present at the post-typhoon damage assessment meeting where the President is satisfied with the government's response to the calamity.

This comment made Salceda laugh, saying the President gave him a "huge task" that's why he made that statement.

"Hahaha. Actually, may mabigat na assignment sya binigay sakin kaya ganun," he posted on his Facebook page.

In an interview last week, the President said that he will not endorse a presidential candidate for the 2022 elections, at the same time mentioning that Vice President Robredo should not run for the President as well.

“To the Filipino people, listening to me, hindi na po ako pulitiko, hindi na ako tumakbo. Wala akong kandidato. Ang sinasabi ko lang sa inyo, disgrasya kayo ‘pag si (Vice President) Leni (Robredo),” Duterte said in an interview with CNN Philippines.
