Former ACT Teachers Party-list Representative France Castro criticized Vice President Sara Duterte following the vice president’s recent expression of concern over her personal security.
In a statement, Castro accused Duterte of creating unnecessary drama and attempting to shift public attention by portraying herself as a victim.
“Puro drama naman itong si bratinella. Mukhang delulu na talaga si VP Duterte. Gusto lang niyang baliktarin ang naratibo at gawing siya ang biktima,” ani Castro. Castro further argued that Duterte should not portray herself as a victim and should instead face the legal processes surrounding the issues she is currently dealing with. Meanwhile, Castro herself has faced a legal case. In 2024, the Tagum City Regional Trial Court found Castro, former Bayan Muna lawmaker Satur Ocampo, and others guilty of violating Republic Act No. 7610 in connection with a 2018 incident involving Lumad students. The ruling is currently under appeal. The terms “bratinella” and “delulu” used by Castro in referring to Duterte were personal remarks and opinions expressed by the former lawmaker. As of publication, no response from Vice President Duterte’s camp regarding Castro’s statement has been reported.
