Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. believes that Vice President Leni Robredo may win the next presidency election if she succeeds in handling the drug czar position being offered by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Locsin said in a tweet that it would be "worth a try" for Robredo to become the alter-ego of the President.
“I think that it’s worth a try. He offers full Cabinet status to act as his alter ego; that even means that if she fails, he’ll still take the blame though I guess some of it will stick to her. But I think if she succeeds she’s the next president,” Locsin said
Locsin also said that the offer of the President to Robredo was serious.
"Just bumped into Sal. The offer is serious. DU wants the drug trade terminated—not legalized so it becomes a public-private offering with the biggest IPO. Within that cosmically broad parameter try to solve it…or not but still get the nation's gratitude Leni. Time to move on." he said
Earlier, Duterte slammed Robredo for calling the administration’s drug war a ‘failure’ and asked to reassess its policies.
With this, the Chief Executive offered the Vice President to take over as drug czar to “ensure her effectiveness in combatting the drug menace.”
“Pagka tinanggap ni Leni… If anything that has to do with drugs and criminality, you ask her. Siya ang ilagay ko. Tingnan natin. Hindi na ako makialam. Sabihin mo sa kanya tanggapin niya. Sisikat siya diyan. Hindi ko nakayanan, baka kaya niya." Duterte said
