Senator Bong Go might just be a newcomer in his present public post for almost four months now, but there has been talks among businessmen and politikos that they are looking at Go as a possible strong contender in the next 2022 Presidential election.

After President Rodrigo Duterte’s supposed joke on June 20, 2018, in which he remarked that Go wants to run for president, businessmen and other politicians are taking it into consideration.

“Pati itong si Bong Go, na-invite lang sa Congress ng frigate ano deal, tapos gusto na — tumatakbo na ng presidente. Ayaw na magpapigil,” Duterte told during the conference of Philippine Councilors League.

As Businessmen and politikos can still remembers not too long ago when President Duterte jokingly endorsed Go about running for senator.

And now the President’s long-time aide is actually a senator of the country.

Some political critics even predicts that Senator Go could be a more strong presidential candidate than the President’s own daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who is making a buzz in the Philippine politics.

President Duterte himself has said time and again that he has discouraged his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio from running for president or any national post saying the stress and suffering that comes with the job is not worth the compensation.

“I am discouraging my daughter to run for any national office. Maawa kasi ako,” Duterte told his friend, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy in a televised interview last Jun

"It's an entitlement of honor pero sabihin ko kay Inday at Polong, it doesn't pay," the President added.

“‘Wag, ‘Day. Magdusa ka. I have to swallow ‘yung mga ginagawa sa inyo,” he added, referring to the criticisms his family have received since he won the 2016 presidential race.

“I’m publicly warning her the presidency will not educate you, it will just destroy you, especially with the kind of media ngayon, paid hacks, mga hyena,” Duterte even told reporters in one occasion.

Apparently, the President prefers Go as his successor rather than Sara even the latter is a strong contender for the presidency in 2022.

The next Presidential election fever would intensify come 2021, But businessmen and politicians are already making endorsements in the next 2022 Presidential election.
