In an exclusive interview earlier with ANC, former senator Antonio Trillanes revealed that he will be pursuing a career in teaching after graduating from being a senator – at the University of the Philippines and Ateneo.

However, not everyone is happy as it seems when the news broke out when a former UP student expressed his objection in an open letter thru Facebook.

Addressed to UP's board members, alumnus Benedict Exconde said he strongly object the idea  of hiring the former Magdalo as a faculty member in UP.

“It is a disservice and a disgrace for our alma mater to employ an individual who has repeatedly tried to overthrow and undermine the authority of a legitimately elected government, and openly disrespected the will of the majority of the Filipino people.” He said

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS AND OFFICIALS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES, FROM A U.P ALUMNUS

Dear University of the Philippines Board of Regents and other officials,

Please be informed that this early, I strongly object to the idea of employing Antonio Trillanes IV as a faculty member at our university.

It is a disservice and a disgrace for our alma mater to employ an individual who has repeatedly tried to overthrow and undermine the authority of a legitimately elected government, and openly disrespected the will of the majority of the Filipino people.

Do we really want to the masses to lose their respect towards UP by taking such a sorry and stupid route, or perhaps all of you are contented with seeing UP being the symbol of the same obstructionist and opportunist force that the said person now represents?

  4. I say the UP Regents should go ahead with their plans to hire Trillanes. If his ideas flourish, that means they have essential strength to survive the discriminating academic environment that I believe pervades over the university campus.
