Aquino swipes on Duterte's SONA, long but lacked details: 'Bahala na kayong umintindi!'

Manila, Philippines - Former President Benigno Aquino III may be a no show once during President Duterte’s 4^th State of the Nation Address (SONA), but he sure did listen to every statement mentioned by the current Chief Executive.

For Noynoy, the 4^th SONA of President Duterte was quite long and nothing much to offer.

The former President said in an interview with Eagle News Tuesday (July 23), Duterte’s SONA lacked details on his vision for the country and specific plans on how to accomplish them.

“Sa totoo lang, marami siyang inulit, parang sinabi niya siguro, ito na ang inabot natin. Sa kanyang style ayaw niyang magbida ng kanyang mga numero. Nasaan na ba tayo, ano bang goal natin? Meron yung para bang pinababayaan doon sa nakikinig para maunawaan yung sinasabi,” he said.

Aquino added that Duterte’s SONA was very much like a quote that says, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, “Ito sasabihin ko, bahala na kayong i-interpret anong ibig sabihin niyan,” he added.

According to Aquino, most of Duterte’s statement during his SONA was all but feel good statements especially on his administration’s war on drugs.

“Di ako klaro kung ano ba yung target. Yung ‘nandito ako ngayon, gusto kong maabot ‘yun.’ Syempre kailangan mong sabihin ano yun. Yung ‘pag nagawa ko ito, tagumpay na ako.’ At least lahat tayo alam natin ano hinahabol natin,” he said.

Aquino even criticizes Duterte’s plan to help the farmers, his war on drugs that called on the attention of United Nations Human Rights Council because of the alleged high number of human rights abuses and other issues that need major attention.

 This is the fourth time former President Noynoy Aquino skipped President Duterte’s SONA.
