Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) ordered the re-arrest of Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) leaders Benito and Wilma Tiamzon.

The Tiamzon couple are now subject to manhunt with the court’s order.

With this, Chief Superintendent Dionardo Carlos, Philippine National Police spokesman, said that PNP is ready to comply with the order.

The order was issued by Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 32 Judge Thelma Bunyi Medina, after she granted the motion for recommitment and cancellation of the 100,000-bail filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The said order was issued on January 11, 2018, and was released on Wednesday.

“Well, we follow the order of the court, we follow the order of the RTC in Manila for the re-arrest of the couple and whoever personalities are included (in the order),” Carlos said.

The PNP Spokesman said that it would be easy to locate the whereabouts of the couple and their co-accused National Democratic Front (NDF) leader Adelberto Silva, as they were being monitored by the PNP-Intelligence Group (IG).

“Even if they were temporarily released for the purpose of the peace talks, they really have to answer for the violation of the law before the court kasi they were charged accordingly,” said Carlos.

“Again babalik lang naman tayo doon sa… they should answer for the violation of the law before the court,” he added.

The Tiamzon couple were arrested in Cebu, March 2014 over murder charges but were released in 2016 through bail.

The camp of the Communist leaders said that they would appeal the court’s re-arrest order.
