Manila, Philippines – Five suspected drug dealers and gunrunners
were arrested by the anti-narcotics agents of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD),
early Wednesday in two consecutive buy bust operations.
QCPD agents also seized P4 million worth of illegal drugs
and several firearms during the raid.
The operation was first conducted in an apartment unit in
Barangay San Agustin, Novaliches Quezon City, following the arrest of Ricky Tuballa,
49, of Sapang Palay, Bulacan.
This first operation led to the arrest of Tuballa’s supposed
supplier, Emmanuel Salamatin, 42 with three others who were caught using shabu-
Michael Luna, 39, also from Bulacan, Melano Cruz Jr., 63, and Jemasobel Uy, 24 of
Caloocan City.
Tuballa tagged Salamatin as his supplier during the
interrogation.
According to Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar, a big
ziplock bag and 38 plastic sachets containing around 800 grams of shabu has an
estimated street value of P4 million.
A .22 caliber submachine gun, two 9mm Armscor pistols, a
homemade 9mm subcompact revolver, a .45 caliber pistol, bullets, some drug paraphernalia
and marked money amounting to P20,000 were also confiscated from the arrested suspects.
Reports said that Tuballa is a known drug peddler in Quezon
City, Caloocan, and Bulacan. The QCPD believes that Tuballa’s group is
connected to a Chinese drug convict but no other details were provided.
Suspects Tuballa and Salamatin will be also charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
After President Rodrigo Duterte announced that PNP will
reenter the fight against illegal drugs once more, this operation of the QCPD
anti-narcotics team was conducted without assistance from the Philippine Drug
Enforcement Agency (PDEA), which leads the entire war against drugs.
