Duterte hits "arrogant" Drilon during SONA: 'He obviously was defending the Lopezes that they were not oligarchs'

Nagpakawala ng matinding mga salita si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kay Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon sa pagiging “arogante” umano nito at pagtatanggol sa Lopezes matapos mabigo ang ABS-CBN na makakuha ng isang bagong prangkisa mula sa House of Representatives.

Sa kanyang ikalimang State of the Nation Address sa Batasang Pambansa, sinabi ng pangulo na isa siya sa mga nasaktan ng mga Lopez noong 2016 elections.

“My countrymen, it is sad that when the government focuses its attention and resources to battle the coronavirus, there are those who take advantage of a preoccupied government. One of them is Sen. Frank Drilon,” ani Pangulong Duterte

“One of them is Senator Franklin Drilon. In an interview, he arrogantly mentioned, among others, that oligarchs need not be rich. Then he linked the anti-dynasty with oligarchy and the topic was my daughter and son,” ayon pa sa kanya

Malinaw umano na kinakampihan ni Drilon ang Lopezes, na nagmamay-ari ng ABS-CBN.

“This happened after the committee of franchise voted to deny the grant of franchise to ABS-CBN. 

He obviously was defending the Lopezes that they were not oligarchs,” ani Duterte*

“Great wealth enables economic elites and corporations to influence public policy to their advantage. Media is a powerful tool in the hands of oligarchs like the Lopezes who used their media outlets in their battles with political figures. I am a casualty of the Lopezes during the 2016 election,” dagdag ng Pangulo

Noong July 15 sa isang online forum, hinikayat ni Drilon si Duterte na isulong ang batas na nagbabawal sa mga dinastiya sa pulitika upang tuluyang buwagin ang oligarkiya.

Sa parehong forum, sinabi ni Drilon na ang pagiging mayaman ay hindi katumbas ng pagiging isang “oligarkiya”, nagaganap lang umano ito kapag ang isang tao ay nakakaimpluwensya sa desisyon ng gobyerno o gumagamit ng kanyang kayamanan upang magpatuloy sa isang patakaran na makikinabang sa interes ng negosyo.

Sa huling bahagi ng kanyang pagsasalita, muling binanggit ng pangulo si Drilon na kanyang tinawag na hipokrito.

“You are a hypocrite. You know you can’t pass an anti-dynasty law. You’re the one in Congress. So you start it. But to take it against me for protecting my country is something which I really resent,” ayon kay pangulong Duterte
