De Lima scores Duterte admin over rising COVID cases: Itigil na ninyo ‘yang midnight presscon, puro ngaw-ngaw!

Senator Leila De Lima has raised concern about the alarming rate of COVID-19 cases in the country.

“No wonder our own testing rate couldn’t even hit half of the 30,000 daily tests targeted by the government,” She said


“Pero sa halip na mataranta ang gobyerno, pinupuri pa ang isa’t isa na parang malaking tagumpay ang resulta ng trabaho nila! Mag-aapat na buwan na, pero sa halip na bumuti, mas lalo pang lumalala ang sitwasyon natin at lahat ng datos masama ang pinakikita,” de Lima reiterated

The statement of De Lima came after the pronouncement of the World Health Organization (WHO) that the Philippine has now the fastest rise of COVID-19 cases in the Western Pacific region.

According to the detained senator, the country has one of, it not the best trained medical professionals and specialist in the region and also funds to respond to the pandemic.

"The only reason for this failure to respond is the mismanaged use of our human resources and fiscal space to combat the pandemic. We are wasting so much resources without gains. And instead of mobilizing the full expertise of our health sector, the whole approach is still fixated on the use of police and military. Sino ba talaga ang kalaban, ang mga tao o ang virus?" she said


"At p'wede ba, itigil na rin ang kaiimbento ng issue o krisis gaya niyang Anti-Terror Bill at pagpapalit ng pangalan ng NAIA. Ginagawa n'yo ng bisyo ang umimbento ng krisis, may totoong krisis na nga. At hindi bubuti ang sitwasyon ng bansa kung gobyernong kulambo lang ang alam ni Duterte." de Lima added

She also noted that many Filipinos affected due to the pandemic, especially the hungry jeepney drivers.

"Marami sa kababayan natin ay taob na ang kaldero. May mga tsuper at manggagawa na namamalimos na. Peligroso na rin ang kalusugan dahil hindi na nakakakain nang maayos. Higit libo na ang namatay at milyong manggagawa ang nawalan ng trabaho, at ang mga negosyo ay lumulubog dahil lubhang napinsala na ang ekonomiya."

"Ano ba ang hinihintay ng gobyernong ito, na maging sindami ng natokhang pa ang mamatay sa COVID-19 bago mag-apura at puspusang kumilos?!" she added

"Itigil na ninyo 'yang midnight press con kung wala namang silbi sa taumbayan at hindi n'yo rin naman iuulat ang dapat na iulat. Puros ngaw-ngaw, inaaksaya lang ang oras ng publiko, ng media, at ng lahat. Sa halip na ulat sa pondo, plano at target ang pinag-uusapan, parating pagturok sa patay na kabayo! Anong klaseng presidente ito, nasa krisis na tayo, elementong lupa pa bukambibig. Tikbalang ka ba?!"
