After House Speaker Alan Cayetano announced that the committee will drop the provisional franchise for media giant ABS-CBN.

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV criticized the House leader in his twitter because of lawmaker's sudden change of decision that the committee will drop the Cayetano-sponsored bill also known as the House Bill no. 6732.

Cayetano recently announced that the committee would forego with the bill on the provisional franchise of ABS-CBN and instead proceed with the hearings on the the 25-year renewal application of the network’s franchise.

“I, together with the House leadership, have decided to forego with the provisional franchise and immediately proceed with the hearings for the 25-year franchise,” Cayetano said in his speech.

The provisional franchise will give the media giant a chance to resume broadcast in a short period of five months while they are still waiting for the House's decision to issue a 25-year franchise.

Cayetano, also a former senator, earlier made a dramatic speech at the Lower House when he announced that he was sponsoring the bill seeking temporary license for the network.

The said bill was quickly passed on second reading by the House committee of the whole.

But, in a sudden change of tune, Cayetano made the announcement during Tuesday’s plenary session, that they will no longer pursue the HB no. 6732  and push for 25-year franchise instead.

Then, Trillanes took a swipe at the House speaker and further said that Cayetano will now likely to take his “sweet time” to tackle the ABS-CBN franchise bill.

“I knew it! Pinaasa at nilinlang lang ni Cayetano ang ABSCBN to take the pressure off himself. Now, he will take his sweet time,” he tweeted.
