NBI arrests Francis Leo Marcos for alleged violation of Optometry Law

Viral social media personality Francis Leo Marcos has been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation-Cyber Crime Divison (NBI-CCD) at his home in Quezon City this morning, May 19.

According to the NBI-CCD, Marcos were  arrested in  an alleged violation of Optometry Law filed agaimst him in Baguio city.



According to ABS-CBN News report by Niko Baua, it was the NBI Cybercrime Division that arrested Marcos for the alleged violation.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said, the optometry law, also known as Republic Act No. 8050, is “an act regulating the practice of optometry, upgrading optometric education, integrating optometrists, and for other purposes.” 

In an online speculations, it say that Marcos allegedly violated the law by supposedly giving people free prescription glasses without having the license practice the said profession. 

Although, official statement and specific details of the alleged violation have not yet been given by the authorities. 



Francis Leo Marcos is a social media star who became popular online for giving donations to the poor and urging other wealthy people to donate as well. His YouTube channel has over 1 million followers and he has fan pages on different social media pages as well.
