Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio criticized ABS-CBN’s article regarding her father, President Rodrigo Duterte's recent flight to Davao City after a two-month lockdown due to COVID-19.

The Kapamilya network published an on-line article entitled ‘Sara Duterte defends father’s trip: President is a frontliner, which made the Davao Mayor displeased.

In her Instagram post, Mayor Inday Sara said that ABS-CBN did not put her explanations on why her father, President Rodrigo Duterte was allowed to travel back to Davao City.

She said, she gave a “mouthful of numbers as legal basis” that supports the President’s return trip to Davao other than the “frontliner” explanation. Government flights, she said, is allowed during the quarantine period.

ABS-CBN's article is incomplete, which annoyed the Presidential daughter and criticized the giant network once again, for bias reporting.

“Alam nyo ABSCBN kaya maraming naiinis sa inyo dahil nananadya kayo. Apart from this sassy answer, I gave a mouthful of numbers as legal basis. Aba, kahit isa wala man lang kayo sinulat.” said Mayor Sara.

“Ansabe ko IATF Omnibus Guide dated 15 May 2020 Sec. 7 (2) 2 at Notam DIA exemption to restricted travel 2) Government flights. Andami niyo na nga kalaban gusto niyo pa dagdagan." she added

Kung sabagay pasok naman na sila Espasol, Sapin-Sapin at Chicharon sa bulsa eh noh, 6 months to 25 years. So tuloy lang tayo sa bias. Magsulat kayo maayos oi.” she said

The President made a trip to Davao City last weekend after two months of spending his time in Manila when the lockdown started.

Malacanang also came in defense, saying that the President wanted to visit his family as well as assess the COVID-19 situation in Mindanao.

Interior Secretary and Vice chair of the National Task Force against COVID-19, Eduardo Año, also defended the chief executive, saying the President was exempted from flight restrictions being the highest official of the land.

"I think the President’s flight is one of those exemptions being the highest official of the land. He has the authority to go anywhere he wants and being the chief executive, chief implementor of all the laws of the land he can go wherever he wants as long as health standards and protocol are observed," Año told in an interview with ANC on Monday.

Aside from this, Mayor Sara also lambasted the allegations that the ABS-CBN franchise issue was connected in violation of the country's freedom of speech.

“And for the record, walang connection ang freedom of speech at iba pang kieme ninyo sa isang franchise. Amen,” Inday Sara said.

Hence, Mayor Duterte made a direct appeal to the kapamilya network to be fair in its reports, otherwise, they may face a growing list of enemies if it will not change its alleged unfair reporting.

The National Telecommunications Commission issued a cease and desist order to ABS-CBN to shut down its free television and radio broadcast operations last May 5 after its franchise expired last May 4.
