President Rodrigo Duterte will not be able to finish his visit to Japan  due to unbearable pain near his pelvic area due to his motorbike accident last week.

According to the palace, the President  was experiencing "unbearable pain in his spinal column near the pelvic bone as a consequence of his fall during his motorcycle ride last week."

“He will return to the country early evening today, October 22, and will see his neurologist tomorrow, October 23, for consultation,” Panelo told reporters Tuesday.

He is scheduled for a checkup with his neurologist on Wednesday, according to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo.

Malacanang official said Duterte will no longer attend the Emperor’s banquet this evening instead has requested his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte to represent him on his behalf.

Panelo assured the Filipino people that “there is nothing to worry as regards the physical health and condition of the President as he gives serious priority thereto in actively serving our country.”

The chief executive had just arrived in Tokyo Tuesday morning for a supposed two-day trip for the enthronement of Japanese Emperor Naruhito.

“The Palace, however, confirms that the President has attended the enthronement rites earlier today, although he was carrying a cane to assist him in his walk,” Panelo added.

"He would miss the emperor's banquet Tuesday night and requested daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who had traveled with him and also attended the enthronement ceremony, to represent him." the spokesperson said.
