President Rodrigo Duterte  held his 8th bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping last Aug. 29 and discussed issues of mutual interest to both countries, according to DFA Assistant Secretary Meynardo Montealegre.

Part of the agenda also includes the 2016 Manila’s arbitral victory, which invalidated China's sweeping claims in the disputed West Philippine Sea, in President Duterte's last meeting with Xi.

The President also attended the Philippines-China Business Forum held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Beijing on August 30, 2019.

He delivered his speech during the Philippines-China Business Forum, where he presented Senator Bong Go to Chinese businessmen as one of their own, who also happens to be a chinese-filipino.

“Senator Christopher Lawrence Go, first Chinese Senator of the Philippines,” Go expressionless while the President introduced his entourage to Chinese businessmen gathered in the event.

The crowd cheered and laughed everytime President Duterte would crack a joke.

Meanwhile, Go continues to be at the side of Duterte despite getting elected as Senator and Chair of the Philippine Senate Health and Sports Committee  in 2016.

Since 1998, Go has served as executive assistant and personal aide for then-Mayor of Davao City Rodrigo Duterte.

Being in charge of both personal and official matters, he has called himself as Duterte's all around 'utility man'.

From Beijing, the President was also set to travel to Guangzhou to personally support Gilas Pilipinas in their first game against Italy on Aug. 31.
