Manila, Philippines - Newly elected Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’
Domagoso warned Truck owners and operators that he will strictly implement his
words when he says he will destroy and he will apply acetylene to dismantle the
illegally parked trucks all over Manila if he has to.
Mayor Isko particularly pertaining
to the trucks illegally parked along Del Pan Bridge, Radial Road 10 (R10), Sta.
Cruz and Paco. These Trucks allegedly paying P1,000 parking fee each per day to
the barangay/village chairman or officials on their respective Barangays.
“Lahat ng truck sa
Valderama, Chairman Bautista, itigil niyo na yung illegal parking ng truck sa
pagbaba ng Del Pan Bridge. Chairman Diana ng Baseco, yung paakyat ng Del Pan
Bridge naman (Chairman Bautista, stop the illegal parking of trucks along
Valderama. Chairman Diana, clear up trucks along Del Pan Bridge,)” Domagoso said.
“I am giving you a
fair warning, mayroon pa kayong apat na araw para umayos at alisin ang mga
truck na ‘yan. Pag nakabalagbag pa ‘yan sa mga lugar na ‘yan eh papoposasan ko
ang mga chairman diyan at ipapa-acetylene ko ang mga truck na ‘yan para hindi
na makapagpabigat sa daloy ng trapiko at makasira sa ating cultural heritage
tulad diyan sa Paco Park na isang national park,” Mayor Isko
said
Isko further said that he gave ample time of four days to the
Barangay Chairmen to clear the trucks from the respective villages.
“This is a fair warning, don’t push me to the wall,
i-implement namin ang batas. Hindi po ito para samin, para sa kaayusan po ‘to
ng Lungsod ng Maynila. Hindi na po pwede yung P1,000 a day na parking sa
truck,” Isko added.
He also mentioned while he was
still the Vice Mayor that he stopped implementing towing of these trucks because
these could lead to further abuses.
"Gayunman, inaabuso umano ito ng ilan tulad na lang ng
ginagawa ng chairman na nakasasakop sa Paco Park, na isang National Park, dahil
halos apat na taon umano nitong hinayaan na bumalagbag sa nasabing lugar ang
mga 40-footer na trailer truck." he said
“Huwag niyo kaming susubukan ginagawa namin ito upang malinis
ang Maynila,” he added.
