Manila, Philippines - Senator Panfilo Lacson lambasted former National Youth Commission chief Ronald Cardema anew for his alleged objectionable or disqualification for the position as Duterte Youth party-list group Representative.

Lacson posted on his Twitter account questioning Cardema’s status whether he is a member of the youth sector and professional sector because neither of the two falls under his qualification.

On the Senators Twitter post, “First, he represents the youth sector but he is not so young. Then, he represents the professional sector but he has no profession. So what is he?”

Last Month, the Senator also took a strike at the former NYC chief, saying, “Ronald Cardema and the Duterte-youth party list are just two of many reasons why the party-list system has become a joke,”

The party-list system aims to enable Filipino citizens belonging to marginalized and underrepresented sectors to contribute to the formulation and enactment of appropriate legislation that will benefit the nation as a whole.

Cardema reportedly filed for substitution after the five nominees of the Duterte Youth, which he has since said does not claim to represent the youth sector, backed out despite the party-list doing well on pre-election surveys and at the actual polls.

The Commission on Elections has not yet issued a certificate of proclamation to Duterte Youth party-list amongst questions on the eligibility of Cardema as its nominee. Cardema, 34, has sought to be a representative of a youth sector party that limits nominees to 30 years old.

Among the issues highlighted in Cardema's status is the age limit required of youth sector representatives in Congress based on Republic Act (RA) No. 7941 or the Party-List System Act. The law mandates that representatives of the youth sector must be at least 25 years old, but not more than 30 years old on Election Day.
