Drilon on vote buying reports in Iloilo: 'I am saddened if that is true. That should not be the case'

Ilonggo opposition Senator Franklin Drilon is “saddened” by reports regarding vote buying incidents in the province of Iloilo, including his city.

I am saddened if that is true. That should not be the case,”  Drilon said, as reported by Politiko.



He also urged voters not to sell their votes. Drilon exercised his right to vote at Baluarte Elementary School in Molo district.

Earlier, the Western Visayas police said it is validating reports of vote buying in the province of Iloilo.

“We continue to receive reports that some candidates are distributing money and grocery items,” said Police Brig. Gen. John Bulalacao, Western Visayas police chief.

Bulalacao said he has been receiving text messages the paraphernalia bearing pictures of Iloilo 4th District Rep. Ferjenel Biron and Iloilo Vice Gov. Christine Garin were being distributed in towns like Igbaras and Miag-ao.

“These are raw information that needs to be validated,” Bulalacao said


Reports also said that some pictures and videos show residents receiving packs of bihon with Biron’s photo.
