Manila, Philippines – Vice President Leni Robredo cited that she’s expecting more fake news attacks against her to continue despite efforts to refute them because of money.

Robredo made the remarks on her weekly show on dzXL radio.

“Hanggang kasi, Ka Ely, may perang nakurakot, talagang ibabayad nila iyon sa mga walang kakuwenta-kuwentang bagay,” the Vice President said, talking to her co-host, broadcaster Ely Saludar.

She also believes that the objective of the attacks is to make her sound stupid.

“Ano iyong makukuha nila sa paggawa ng fake news laban sa akin? Eh gusto kang i-discredit,” she said

In March, Robredo stressed that freedom of expression is the right of every individual but not the deliberate, organized, and large-scale dissemination of false information.

“Let me be very clear, I firmly stand by the Constitutionally guaranteed human right to free expression and do not support any broad, generalized restriction on this right, whether it is exercised directly, or through traditional and social media. But I also strongly believe that the deliberate, organized, and large-scale dissemination of false information must be distinguished from the individual right to expression,” she said
