President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday has slammed former
Interior secretary and opposition senatorial bet Mar Roxas, whom he described
as "disloyal and unprincipled" person.
During the campaign rally of Partido Demokratiko
Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan's (PDP-Laban) senatorial bets, the president said that,
his rival in 2016 presidential race had no loyalty because the latter served
both the Arroyo and Aquino administrations.
"Ito si Roxas. It's not because you are a namesake of
Roxas, mahusay ka. Itong taong ito, walang loyalty 'to. Panahon ni Arroyo,
panahon ni Aquino, nandoon siya. Wala ito. Paganun-ganon. He pretends to be
somebody. Tao na walang prinsipyo, wala talaga 'yan," he said in a speech
in Cauayan City, Isabela.
Roxas, a grandson of former President Manuel Roxas was
appointed as Trade secretary in 2001 by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
He was also made the Transportation secretary from July 2011
to October 2012.
In 2012, then President Benigno Aquino III appointed
Roxas as Interior Secretary.
"Ito si p***** i**** Roxas na 'to, matagal na man ito.
Nakagawa ba siya maski bridge? Naging secretary ng DOTC (now-defunct Department
of Transportation and Communications), naging DILG (Department of the Interior
and Local Government). Walang naiwan," he said.
The President then joked that he could waive his usual fee
for killing people if he decided to off the losing presidential bet in 2016.
“You are nothing to me. I can even shoot you for free. Gaya
ng sine. You know Mar Roxas, I kill people for money. But since you are nothing
I will shoot you for free,” he said
