Poor families in Sarangani get free housing from Senator Manny Pacquiao

People of Sarangani Province have received free housing units from Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao.

A total of 97 poor families In Malungon town benefits the housing from the Senator.

On Tuesday, Malungon Mayor Maria Theresa Constantino said that beneficiaries comprised selected “homeless” residents will qualify the “MP Pabahay Project” of Senator Pacquiao.

She also said that they initially turned over an initial 77 housing units to the beneficiaries while the remaining 20 will be awarded by Pacquiao in another event.

Constantino said the construction of the housing units, with single and duplex types, was personally funded by the Senator.

She added that the units were built on a 1.5-hectare subdivided land in Barangay Poblacion which is beside the other one-hectare lot that was also donated for the new barangay hall compound by Pacquiao.

“Beneficiaries are not allowed to sell or convert their respective homes into rooming houses for those who do not reside in this town,” Constantino said.

“Aside from the housing units, a community plaza, playground and other facilities will be constructed at the site,” the mayor added.

The site was adjacent to the town’s public market, and was part of the 9-hectare land acquired by Senator Pacqauiao’s family years ago.

The mayor assured that the construction of these houses passed government standards and evaluation of the local government in coordination with the recipient barangay.

The said project of Senator Pacquiao shows his “love for Malungon”, especially the poor, said Constantino.

The selection of the beneficiaries of the housing units was approved by the Senator himself.
