The queen of all media Kris Aquino has her own way of celebrating Father’s day, a sort of a tribute  to her father the late senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino.

Kris said in an article by Inquirer, helping her countrymen rise again is the “best Father’s Day gift” she can give to her late dad, former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino.

She has promised to offer a helping hand to her kababayans to get back on their feet and rise again, is the “best Father’s Day gift” she can give to her Dad.

She gave this statement from an Instagram post yesterday, June 20 of an old video of one of their family trips to the United States back in the 1980s.

The old video showed her together with her Dad, was taken by the Associated Press, that her nephews found on YouTube, which showed her, at nine years old, handing her dad a black pouch while appearing to give her Dad instructions while a very touching song “Dance with My Father” also played over the sentimental moment.

Kris explained that the video was taken at an airport when they were leaving for the United States for the late senator’s triple heart bypass surgery, which was followed by their three-year stay in Boston.

“Opo, ganun ako ka ‘confident’ na bata, at just 9 years old may ‘binibilin’ ako sa Dad namin na mga dapat nyang gawin,” Kris said.

The former TV host mentioned that she has been regarded by many, including her mom former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino, who said she took after her father and was his female version.

However, Kris believes that she has “so much more to learn” before she can be “truly worthy” of being likened to her father.

She also mentioned how she is now just one year younger than Ninoy when he was assassinated in 1983, Kris said she still has to learn “humility, [self-sacrifice], and the willingness to serve with every drop of [her] blood.” Kris is 49 years old.

“I have so much more to learn: humility, self-sacrifice, and the willingness to serve with every drop of my blood before i can truly be worthy of that compliment,” she said.

“BUT [I] share with both my parents an unwavering LOVE for the Philippines and Filipinos, come what may, ano man ang pagsubok, mahal ko ang bayan natin at gagawin ko ang makakaya ko para tumulong sa kapwa para makabangon tayong muli,” she added.

“That is the best Father’s Day gift [I] can give Ninoy Aquino,” Kris said.

The late senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino was one of the first to be arrested after President Ferdinand Marcos proclaimed martial law in 1972. The former senator was a staunch critic of the dictatorial rule of Marcos.

Thank you to my nephews Jiggy & Jonty for finding this video on YT. Taken from our departure on May 8, 1980 for the 🇺🇸 for my dad’s triple heart bypass surgery followed by our 3 years in Boston. Opo, ganun ako ka “confident” na bata, at just 9 years old may “binibilin” ako sa Dad namin na mga dapat nyang gawin... marami nang nagsabi (my mom included) that i really took after my dad at ako ang female version nya... i have matured enough, would you believe i am now just 1 year younger than he was when he was assassinated in 1983, for me to realize i have so much more to learn: humility, self sacrifice, and the willingness to serve with every drop of my blood before i can truly be worthy of that compliment. BUT i share with both my parents an unwavering LOVE for the Philippines and Filipinos, come what may, ano man ang pagsubok, mahal ko ang bayan natin at gagawin ko ang makakaya ko para tumulong sa kapwa para makabangon tayong muli. That is the best Father’s Day gift i can give Ninoy Aquino.
