Philippine star columnist Boo Chanco said that President
Rodrigo Duterte should blame his campaign team for what happened on his political
ad in 2016, instead of blaming ABS CBN.
In his column on Friday, Chanco revealed that the said P2
million campaign ad did not make it on time; it was reserved late, it has no
Comelec approval.
“By the time they got Comelec clearance, all available
commercial slots had been taken. The network tried to return the P2 million but
was told to hold it for the meantime. In a weird twist of events, the network
was accused of estafa,” Chanco said
Earlier, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano alleged ABS
CBN of being bias in its coverage of the 2010 and 2016 elections as the
network’s franchise renewal remains in limbo.
Cayeteno said the Lopez family and the network’s executive
should address this ‘bias’ issue as it can affect the status of ABS CBN’s
pending franchise renewal.
“Walang doubt na institusyon ang ABS-CBN, walang doubt na
napakalaking naitulong sa ating bansa, pero wala ring doubt na may mga issues.
Kaya nga sinabing ‘A-Bias-CBN’,” he added.
“Meron tayong Fair Election Act, may batas tayo na ang
media hindi pwedeng hindi patas kapag eleksyon,” Cayetano said
Cayetano also said that alleged bad labor practices
committed by the network giant is another factor that might affect the
franchise renewal.
“Yung mga contractual. ‘Yung mga tinanggal. ‘Yun mga ‘pag
lumipat ng ibang channel, hindi tatanggapin pabalik. ‘Yung mga iba na 15
months, 6 months, 9 months, hindi binigyan ng trabaho,” said Cayetano.
