Mensahe ng Pangulo sa AFP: Continue fight vs. lawlessness, terrorism

Inatasan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte noong Sabado ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na ipagpatuloy ang paglaban nito sa kawalan ng batas at terorismo sa pamumuno ng bagong hepe ng militar na si Gen. Felimon Santos.

Nanawagan ang pangulo sa change of command at retirement ceremony para sa papalabas na hepe ng AFP na si Gen. Noel Clement sa Camp Aguinaldo sa Quezon City.

Sa kanyang pangunahing talumpati, ang Commander-in-Chief ay nagpahayag ng tiwala na ang AFP ay makakamit pa ng higit pang milestones sa pagprotekta sa kalayaan at democratic values sa ilalim ng pamamahala ni Santos.

Umaasa ang Pangulo na ang AFP, kasama si Santos, ay magpapatupad ng mga programa na inilaan upang maiangat ang kakayanan at integridad ng mga unipormadong personnel.

“To our soldiers, I assure you that you will always have my full support and confidence as we build a more stable and peaceful future for our people. Be assured that this administration will always assist the men and women of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as we overcome the challenges we face as a nation,” ayon sa Pangulo

“I trust that you will work in unison with the incoming Chief-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Felimon Santos Jr. as you remain steadfast in protecting our country against lawlessness and terrorism,” dagdag niya

Si Santos, isang miyembro ng PMA Class 1986, ay nagsilbi bilang kumander ng AFP Eastern Mindanao Command bago siya mahirang bilang punong militar.

Naging parte din si Santos ng iba’t ibang programang pang kapayapaan at seguridad sa Mindanao.

“May this momentous occasion renew your commitment to defend our homeland from lingering and emerging security threats as you uphold the safety of our families and communities,

Thank you for your service at mabuhay ang sundalong Pilipino (and live long, Philippine soldiers)." Sambit ng Pangulo.

Samantala, kinilala rin ni Duterte ang "matagumpay" na paglilibot ng tungkulin ni Clement bilang pinuno ng AFP. Ayon sa pangulo, maaala ng marami ang ma-prinsipyo at di mapapantayang klase ng pamumuno ni Clement lalo na sa paglaban sa insurgency at pag-secure ng soberanya.
