Reyes slams Malacañang for denying transport crisis: You are ignorant about horrible daily commute, Panelo

The Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) on Tuesday lambasted Malacañang for insisting that there is no mass transport crisis yet in Metro Manila.

Renato Reyes Jr. the Bayan Secretary-General said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo was ignorant for insisting there are no serious problems in the transportation sector.

“Halatang walang alam si Secretary Panelo sa buhay commuter at mass transport crisis. Wala siyang alam sa araw araw na pagdurusa sa miserableng kundisyon ng public commute,” Reyes said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, Panelo said there was no transport crisis as claimed by Reyes because people arrive at their destinations.

“Mukha namang wala pa. Wala.” Palace Spokesman Salvador Panelo said during a Palace briefing when asked if he thinks there is a mass transport crisis in Manila.

“Kasi nga nakakarating pa naman yung mga dapat makarating sa kanilang paparoonan.” The spokesperson added.

“May solusyon naman dun eh. If you want to arrive early in your destination, then you go there earlier,” Panelo said.

Reyes may agree with Panelo’s statement that people can still reach their destinations, But, the difficulties of commuting tears them out.

“Marami ay maagang umaalis ng bahay para lang umabot sa office hours o simula ng eskwela. Walang maibigay na solusyon ang Palasyo kaya itinatanggi nito na may problema,” Reyes said.

Like last week, there has been a series of mechanical problems with the country’s railway lines, forcing passengers to take the usual means of transport.

The series of glitches at the LRT and MRT trains bogged down forcing passengers to walk on rail tracks.

While operations of the LRT-2 in Anonas, Katipunan and Santolan stations will be closed for nine months after a fire razed its power transformers.
