Vice President Leni Robredo (ctto) |
Vice President Leni Robredo is scheduled to travel to Sydney, Australia on Tuesday for a speaking engagement says an Inquirer report.
Robredo is set to meet the Filipino community in the southern country to talk about the role of women in business.
“She is leaving for Australia this evening, she will be back on Saturday. She will be meeting with several Filipino communities while she is there, the highlight of the trip will be a speech before ‘yong [the] Australia-Philippines Business Council," according to Robredo’s spokesperson, Atty. Barry Gutierrez
Gutierrez also explained that the said trip was not paid by the government because it was not an official function of Robredo.
“Also, to be clear, the trip is not going to cost the taxpayers anything, it was not charged to the office,” he said.
Robredo is initially slated to stay and answer questions about the decision of the Supreme Court (SC).
The SC, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) will tackle the poll protest filed by Bongbong Marcos in today’s (Tuesday) en banc session.
Marcos has filed electoral protest against Robredo by only 263,473 votes in 2016 elections due to alleged "massive fraud" such as preshading of ballots, pre-loaded Secure Digital cards, misreading of ballots, malfunctioning vote counting machines, and an “abnormally high” unaccounted votes/undervotes.
In an article published by the Manila Times on October 8, it said that nine to 11 out of 14 Supreme Court justices will junk the draft ruling written by Associate Justice Benjamin Caguioa dismissing Marcos’ poll protest, says its "unimpeachable source."
