According to Senator Francis Pangilinan, affirming the win of Vice President Robredo is safeguarding democracy and the votes of the 14,418,817 Filipinos who supported her run for the second-highest government position in the country.

“Panahon ulit para ipakita ang ating lakas at magkaisang ipagtanggol si Vice President Leni Robredo habang hinihintay natin ang pasya ng Presidential Electoral Tribunal sa votes recount,” Pangilinan said in a statement.

“She has won the elections fair and square. Her army of volunteers and hardworking supporters and the people's desire for a true public servant who will stand her ground helped propel her to victory in the May 2019 elections.” He added

Pangilinan said despite the attempts to undermine Robredo, she has proven her worth as a public servant.

The senator added that Robredo is “pro-poor, honest, and hardworking.”

“Sa kabila ng mga pagtatangka para maliitin, napatunayan ni VP Robredo nitong huling tatlong taon na siya ang karapat-dapat na tagapaglingkod na kailangan nating lahat - tunay na maka-mahirap, matapat, masipag, mahusay.” Pangilinan said

“We are hopeful that the evidence will back her up and the wisdom of the magistrates will rule in confirming her victory, so that she could continue to work and make things better for the nation.” He added

Robredo won the 2016 elections by over 260,000 votes vs. former Senator Bongbong Marcos.

However, due to claims of irregularities in thousands of election precincts in the provinces of Iloilo, Negros Oriental, and Camarines Sur, Marcos has filed an electoral protest.
