Senator Risa Hontiveros is calling out for justice for the abuses committed during the regime of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos.

On the 47th year anniversary of martial law proclamation (September 21), Hontiveros noted the nation could not just forget and move on from the dark past where many had suffered.

“Madami ang sugat na dulot ng Martial Law: 👉🏽 5-10 bilyong dolyar na ninakaw; 👉🏽 mahigit 34,000 tin0rtyur; 👉🏽 mahigit 3,000 sinalvage. Paano mag-move-on kung walang katarungan sa mga biktima at pag-ako ng kasalanan? #NeverForget,” the opposition senator wrote on Facebook

On the same side, Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday, reminded the Filipinos to never forget the dark days of the Marcos regime.

In a statement, Robredo took a swipe to the Marcoses, saying as the people who committed human rights violation and plundered the country decades ago return to power.

“Pinipilit nilang baluktotin ang katotohanan nang walang kahit anong bahid ng hiya at pagsisisi, para sa pansarili nilang kapakanan (They are trying to twist the truth without shame and remorse, for their own sake),” Robredo said.

“Ang labang ito ay laban sa pagkalimot, pananahimik, at pagkikibit-balikat (This fight is a fight against amnesia, silence and indifference),” she added.
