Manila, Philippines - Senator Bong Go recently attended the senate joint committee hearing  on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs chaired by Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa to discuss the issue of the two “missing” students allegedly recruited by leftist groups.

Go is also the vice chair of both committees, claimed during hearing on the alleged recruitment of students by leftist groups, that the activists who rally in the streets to protest the government’s policies are the same people that soldiers hunt for in the mountains for allegedly being communists.

“‘Yung mga nakikita ko nagra-rally sa daan, sila rin yung nasa bundok. ‘Wag tayo magkunwari,” he said.

“Base lang po sa aking experience, alam naman natin na halos lahat ng nasa taas na sinasabi niyo nasa eskwelahan, kadalasan aktibista at nasa daan nagra-rally,” Go added.

Senator “Bato” Dela Rosa, also mentioned Anakbayan, League of Filipino Students, Gabriela Youth and Kabataan Party-list as some of the leftist groups that allegedly recruit students.

Senator Go claimed that he was familiar with how communists living in the mountains looked like because he used to accompany then-Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte there to rescue hostages.

He said it was something he and the former Davao City Mayor worked on together for “around 50 times.”

The committees on public order and dangerous drugs and on national defense and security jointly convened to inquire on the two “missing” students allegedly recruited by leftist groups.

The parents of five senior high school students from various universities lamented that their children had gone missing to join leftist groups, such as Anakbayan, League of Filipino Students (LFS) and Kabataan party-list.
