Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday said that she is no
threat to President Rodrigo Duterte as she is not part of any plan to unseat
the chief executive.
Robredo also stressed that she no plans to grab away the
power from President Duterte.
"Tingin ko, ito hula ko lang, ’pag nakikita ako ni
Presidente tingin ko ramdam niya naman na hindi ako threat. Wala naman akong
pagnanasa to wrestle power from him gaya ng pino-portray ng iba. So tingin ko
ramdam niya ’yun," Robredo said during a DZMM interview.
Despite her being linked to ouster plots against Duterte,
Robredo said her relationship to the President remained “very civil”.
"’Pag nagkikita kami very civil naman. May conversation
naman. Nangungumusta siya. In fact the last time we saw each other was the
(Philippine Military Academy) graduation," the Vice President said
Robredo also said that people close to the chief executive may
have a hand in attempting to malign her by spreading fake news.
Nonethless, Robredo said she would rather focus on work
ahead of her.
“Sobrang dami ng gagawin, na hindi naman puwedeng mag-dwell
doon sa mga bagay na hindi mo naman kayang kontrolin,” she said.
In 2016, Robredo resigned as Duterte's Housing secretary, citing
"major differences" as the ties between the two leaders became cold –when
the President suspected Robredo’s involvement on ouster plots against him.
