Manila, Philippines – On Sunday, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV declared that if his accusations against President Rodrigo Duterte will be proven false, he will resign from his position as a Senator.

In a radio interview dzBB, Trillanes said that aside from leaving his post, he is also willing to go to jail.

Trillanes is accusing the president of amassing P2 billion unexplained wealth in his bank account.

"Napakasimple eh. Puwede n'yo akong ipahiya tapos magre-resign pa ako as senador tapos papasok pa ako sa kulungan kung gusto nila, kung mali ang aking alegasyon," he said when asked for his reaction on the remarks of Davao City Mayor, Sara Duterte-Carpio.

"Eh sa akin ako no, babalik na lang ako sa issue, kung wala kayong tinatago, bakit ayaw niyong pumirma ng waiver," Trillanes added.

Trillanes insists that President Duterte should sign the bank secrecy waiver, which is the only way to disprove the allegations against him.

Earlier last week, Mayor Sara slammed three opposition Senators in her Facebook post including Trillanes himself, Risa Hontiveros and Kiko Pangilinan for being “opportunist” who allegedly sought help from the Dutertes prior and during elections in 2016.

The senators are also members of a cause-oriented group called Tindig Pilipinas – that moves against the president’s actions and pronouncement.

"Matanong ko lang, nung mga panahon na humingi kayo ng tulong, may isyu ba kayo sa governance ni PRD [President Rodrigo Duterte]? Wala. Ngayon na nanalo na siya? Meron. Hunger Games, Pilipinas: Plastic na, oportunista pa."  Sara Duterte’s post addressing the mentioned Senators.

The younger Duterte also revealed that Pangilinan and Trillanes both wanted to become President.
