Manila, Philippines – Someone newbie like Pasig City
Mayor-elect Vico Sotto can turn to Vice President Leni Robredo for guidance
about governance, as the latter offers help.
Robredo said on Saturday that she and other officials of her
hometown is ready to assist Sotto in the task of leading Pasig City.
“Nandito lang naman kami. Hindi lang ako pero lalo na iyong
mga katrabaho ng asawa ko,” Robredo said in Naga City, where she commemorated
the upcoming 61st birth anniversary of her late husband and former Interior
Secretary Jesse Robredo.
“Nagvo-volunteer kami kung mayroon siyang mga kailangan na
tulong from us, para matuto sa lessons na pinagdaanan. Kasi dito sa Naga, hindi
naman naging madali iyong journey. Marami ding mga hits and misses. Siguro
magbe-benefit siya from the experience,” Robredo added
Robredo lauded the 29-year old politician for his desire to
lead Pasig City and urged him to stay focused.
“Sana mag-stay lang ng course. Maraming temptations,
maraming shortcuts na dadating, na, parang, dadaanan niya. Pero sana,
parang—sana iyong focus parating nandiyan. Nandito lang naman kami,” Robredo
said.
In 2018, Sotto reportedly defended Naga after it was called
by President Rodrigo Duterte as a “hotbed” of shabu.
“It really is a hotbed here!” Sotto tweeted in Filipino.
“Hotbed of citizen empowerment and participation in governance!!!”
