The former
rebel soldier turned Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, made a comment on the recent
statement of President Duterte in Japan while meeting the Filipino community
there.
Trillanes
said in retaliation to recent gay jokes on him. He said, Duterte has deep
desire on him, and suggested that the Commander in Chief is only hiding under
his Macho image to cover up his true feelings for him.
“Nagdududa na ‘ko sa mga
pahayag ni Duterte sa ‘kin, parang meron talaga syang malalim na pagnanasa.
Baka cover lang nya ang mga pagpapasiga-siga nya,” Trillanes posted in his
tweeter.
The
recent gay comment was made during the President’s meeting with the Filipino
community in Japan. He hinted that the Senator is gay and asked members of the
Filipino LGBT community among the audience if they can confirm Trillanes’
sexuality while claiming that he was also gay in his younger years.
“Ako, bakla ako noon.
Sinong bakla dito? Bakla man ako noon. Mabuhay ang bakla ng Pilipinas (Who is
gay here? I used to be gay),” Duterte said.
“Ang bakla marunong
magtingin yan so kayong mga bakla, tanungin ko kayo, ano si Trillanes (Gays can
sense and identify fellow gays. Now I ask you, what do you think of
Trillanes?),” the President asked.
Duterte then remembered in an event when a person sitting beside
him said that Trillanes is gay.
“Tapos kinalbit
ako [ng katabi ko] sabi, ‘sir, bakla ‘yan (Trillanes).’ Sabi ko, ‘Totoo ka?’
Sabi niya, ‘Magtanong ka kahit sinong bakla at makita ‘yang gumalaw,” He said.
Duterte
added that unlike Trillanes, said he was able to “cure” his being gay when he
married his first wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman, and when he met present partner,
Honeylet Avanceña.
“Mabuti na lang
pareho kami ni Trillanes pero nagamot ko ang sarili ko noong kami na ni
Zimmerman,” Duterte said.
“Nung nakita ko
si Mutya sabi ko, ‘Ah, eto na’, naging lalaki ako ulit,” he added.
President
Duterte is in Japan to deliver a keynote address at the 25th Nikkei
Conference on the Future of Asia international business forum with Japanese
Prime Minister Abe Shinzo and to meet and greet the Filipino community.
