Nasaan na ang report? Chel Diokno questions Duterte realigned budget specifics

Former Otso deretso senatorial candidate and human rights lawyer Chel Diokno on Monday (March 30) appealed to the public to audit how the government is spending its national budget to fight the Pandemic 2019 coronavirus.

On his latest Twitter post“Ayon sa Bayanihan Act, trabaho ng Pangulo mag-report kada Lunes kung saan pumunta ang 275B na pondo,”.

“Trabaho natin maging maalam para protektahan ang ating pamilya at komunidad,” he clarified.

The Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) chairman, said among the things the public should consider, Filipinos should ask if the government has systematized the accreditation of test kits and if it has ensured the continues distribution of medicines and food for those who are quarantined.

Diokno said the public should also investigate whether the government is giving enough help to frontliners including the quick distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) and providing them with the needed facilities including temporary housing and quarantine centers.

The government allotted P275 billion worth of public funds to be used for the COVID-19 response efforts as part of the new law called the Bayanihan We Heal as One Act (RA 11469), which also placed the country under a state of emergency effective for three months unless extended.

RA 11469 was signed into law last March 24. Nearly a week later, the government has yet to provide breakdown on how this huge budget will be utilized by the government.
