Sitting Vice President Leni Robredo insisted that she is the
duly elected and proclaimed the winner of the 2016 elections for the second-highest
leader of the country, contrary to the claims of former Senator Bongbong
Marcos.
“Tapos na ‘yung eleksyon, pinroclaim tayo ng Kongreso…
Nagkaroon ng recount, panalo ulit tayo.
Ilang panalo pa ang kailangan para
maniwala siya na hindi siya nanalo?” Robredo said.
Meanwhile, on a Twitter post, Robredo’s spokesman Barry Gutierrez
also commented: “Paminsan-minsan, dapat sinusunog ang umeepal.”
The Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral
Tribunal (PET) in the ongoing electoral protest had deferred the ruling on
Marcos' electoral protest against Robredo.
Reportedly, both parties were asked to comment on the issues
surrounding
the protest before it.
In an article by Philstar, Brian Keith Hosaka, Supreme Court
spokesperson, said "the Tribunal has decided to release to the
parties the report on the revision and appreciation of ballots in the three
pilot provinces, and for them to comment thereon."
Robredo earlier welcomed the declaration of PET that it will
release to both camps the report on the recount on the three pilot provinces.
Though she felt relieved that the tribunal will make the
documents public, she was also frustrated because it means the case is not over
yet.
"We stand by our position that there is no other
acceptable decision but to dismiss the protest in accordance with Rule
65 of the PET in accordance with the results of the recount,"
Robredo said.
