For the first time, Vice President Leni Robredo admitted that Liberal Party's humiliating loss in 2019 midterm elections was due to its indifference to people's needs.

Reportedly, Robredo had an interview with Bloomberg TV on August 13 where she said that last poll was like a "wake up call" for LP, a once dominating party in the country.

“When the midterm elections happened, it was a time to understand and to, you know, humble ourselves and realize that perhaps, many of the things we are doing are not responsive to what the people need,” Robredo said.

If recalled, none of LP's senatorial candidates won the last elections.

For Robredo, what happened showed them that wooing voters was a wrong strategy.

The LP-backed Otso Diretso senatorial slate had openly criticized the admininistration of President Rodrigo Duterte all through out the campaign period.

The Otso Diretso even chose to campaign door-to-door instead of setting up huge rallies tp gather voters like what PDP-Laban and Hugpong ng Pagbabago did.

After the election, LP chair Senator Francis Pangilinan and secretary general Quezon City Rep. Kit Belmonte  even offered to resign because of the party's dissappointing performance but Robredo disagreed with the idea.

“Hindi nila kasalanan. Puwedeng maraming pagkukulang, pero hindi siya kasalanan noong dalawa,” she said in June.
