Iwas manyak! Sara Duterte: Trans women who haven’t had sex change should be barred from ladies’ toilet

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte

Amid the alleged discrimination suffered by transgender Gretchen Custodio Diaz who was barred by a janitress of Farmer’s Mall in Quezon City from using the ladies’ restroom, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte gave her advice on how to solve the issue.

Duterte said transgender women “who have not undergone sexual reassignment” should not be allowed to use the all-gender women's toilet in public areas.

The Presidential daughter stressed that once a transgender woman already underwent a sex change, only then she should be allowed to use the women's restroom.

Meanwhile, those who haven't had sex change medical procedure, are encouraged to use the "all-gender" toilet including the PWD comfort rooms.

“This is to protect women from men pretending to be LGBTQ+ just to access women CR,” she said.

She explained that her stand is only to protect women against perverted men disguising as member of LGBT not to discriminate them.

Earlier, Duterte suggested to create more "all-gender" toilets in public areas to address the needs of the LGBTQ members.

“Yes, that can be an option—an ‘all-gender’ individual CR. Like how we do it with PWDs like how small restaurants do it,” said Duterte.
