Erap Estrada has been dethroned as the challenger Isko
Moreno won the mayoral race, according to reports.
As of 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Moreno received a total of 348,425
votes cast against Estrada's 204,084, while Lim earned 134,631 votes, placing
him as the third.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News Tuesday, Estrada said he’s
still in disbelief over his defeat to Moreno considering he was leading on
surveys.
With this, Estrada said he couldn’t understand why Moreno
got more votes than him in his own barangay.
Despite the wide gap on vote results, Estrada clarified he
is not conceding yet as he believes that he became someone’s “project,” with
people ganging up on him and his family.
If recalled, Moreno agreed to become Estrada’s running mate
in 2013 with the agreement that the former president would serve only for one
term.
Despite his earlier statement, Estrada still promised of a
“last hurrah” and sought reelection in 2016. Moreno ran for senator instead and
lost.
The 44-year-old Moreno, the youngest of Manila’s mayoral
candidates, got his payback 3 years after.
Meanwhile, Honey Lacuna, Moreno’s running mate, is also set
to win another term as vice mayor. She garnered 382,705 votes compared to
260,489 for former Congressman Amado Bagatsing.
