Otso Diretso senatorial bet and former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay has denied the claim of President Rodrigo Duterte that he was gay.

Hilbay, however, reminded the president that being gay was neither a mistake nor shameful.

“For the record, I am straight. But unlike the President, Agot and I are secure in our relationship and we don’t believe that anybody has to prove their gender and sexuality to anyone,” Hilbay said in a tweet.

“Unlike President, Agot and I don’t see being a member of the LBGTQIA community as a mistake or a source of shame,” he added.

The former Solicitor General also slammed the Chief Executive’s prejudice, pointing out that he was no ally of the LBGTQIA community.

“President Duterte accused me of being gay, and of using @agot_isidro as beard. Hindi ako na-inform na sumasideline pala siyang chismoso sa kanto. Daming free time, ser? And to use sexuality as an insult? He’s no LGBTQIA ally, cyst,” Hilbay said

President Duterte on Tuesday accused senatorial candidate Florin Hilbay of being gay as he said God made a mistake when he created him, this according to an article published by the Inquirer.

“Florin Hilbay is a lawyer. But he’s gay. His girlfriend is Igot Isidro. They’re always together. Agot rather, not Igot. Do you think he’s gay? I don’t have a problem with gays, but this particular gay is a bully. They always criticize me, Hilbay and Agot, until they ended up being couple. Because they’re always  together,” Duterte said in his speech during the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in Tuguegarao City.
