Manila, Philippines – Former PCOO assistant secretary Mocha
Uson has shared on social media (from MindaVote) a video compilation of the Mendiola Mas$acre footage
in 1987 as she slammed the Aquinos, especially the former President Cory
Aquino.
In Mocha’s Facebook page, she said that there were many
gullible people in the Philippines in the past.
“Santa daw o? Dami talagang uto uto sa Pilipinas dati...,”
Uson said.
The Mendiola Massacre is also called as “Black Thursday” by
some Filipino journalists, participated by farmers, workers and students; it took
place in Mendiola Street, San Miguel, Manila on January 22, 1987, in which
government security forces violently dispersed.
Around 10, 000 to 15, 000 protesters marched to the Palace
hoping to have a dialogue with Aquino and raise their problems in terms of land
reforms.
According to Wikipedia, some antiriot personnel disguised as
civilians, opened fire on unarmed protesters killing at least 12 and injuring
51 protesters.
Reportedly, no one was punished over multiple deaths on that
day. The House Committee on Human Rights had recommended giving compensation
for the victims, but it was reported that no one received any compensation as
well.
Further, sometime in 2017, ABS CBN reported that farmers and
the families of the victims were still trying to seek for justice over the
Black Thursday incident, even called on President Rodrigo Duterte to come up
with a real land reform for the farmers.
