Manila, Philippines – Opposition senatorial candidate and
Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano accused former SAP Bong Go of using government funds
to distribute his campaign shirts during the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas
National Assembly.
According to report by Rappler, Alejano claimed that the kit,
registration fee, and other expenses were from the government funds.
Bong Go,” Alejano said in a press statement on Tuesday.
charged sa local funds as per DILG (Department of Interior and Local
Government) Memorandum Circular 2019-23. Ibig sabihin charged sa pondo ng
gobyerno," he said.
maliwanag na isang election offense,” Alejano said.
Alejano said that the registration fee has a total of
P13,800 to P19,800 which covered the hotel accommodation, meals, and bags with
other materials for a 3-day event.
The report also said that Año
authorized the local officials to pay for the fees of attendees for the said
even, which will be held on February 25-27.
Meanwhile, in
a report by ABS CBN, Go has denied his involvement with the shirts given during
the event that showed his name and face.
The former
aide also urged his supporters not to use his name without consent.
barangay officials," Go told ABS-CBN News.
