Manila, Philippines – Philippine News Agency (PNA) anchorwoman, Pia Morato, kin of Quezon City's first mayor Tomas Morato, and the great Chino Roces, called out Rappler in a Facebook post.

In a lengthy statement, Morato chided the embattled news site for allegedly bringing down the state news agency and reminded it to focus on its tax evasion case instead.

Insinuating propaganda

“While some oppose such partnerships by insinuating the use of propaganda , on the other hand, many of you can see the growth of YOUR COUNTRY's state run news agency that is fully determined to give YOU , OUR countrymen, the dignity that is very much deserved through proper information and not disinformation.” Morato said

“It is saddening how some would rather bring down what is now progressing as a solid and dignified state news agency ready to represent OUR NATION to the world without fear nor favor.” She added

PNA and Russia’s Sputnik partnership

The PNA is set to sign a partnership with Russian state agency called Sputnik, which Rappler, in one of its recent article referred to as “propaganda site.”

“Yet Sputnik, an online news outfit controlled by the Russian government, has been called a spreader of propaganda-fueled misinformation. Foreign Policy dubbed it the "BuzzFeed of Propaganda" while the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato) has accused it of being part of the "Kremlin propaganda machine."” Rappler’s article stated

News and Information Bureau Director Gigi Agtay, explained, that the deal between PNA and Sputnik includes republishing articles and vice versa, but only those content related to the Overseas Filipino Workers or Filipinos in Russia.

Rappler has absolutely done it again.

This time on the Philippine News Agency with regard to it's partnership with Russian state agency Sputnik .

We've said it before ...

What you see happening to the Philippine News Agency is unprecedented. It is only in the time of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte that our country's state news agency is once again getting the attention it deserves.

While some oppose such partnerships by insinuating the use of propaganda , on the other hand, many of you can see the growth of YOUR COUNTRY's state run news agency that is fully determined to give YOU , OUR countrymen, the dignity that is very much deserved through proper information and not disinformation.

It is saddening how some would rather bring down what is now progressing as a solid and dignified state news agency ready to represent OUR NATION to the world without fear nor favor.

I am for nation building and I am ready to serve a government who's objective is to do just that.

If you do not share this same motivation, you are only a part of the grand plan of destabilization.

To those who support the PNA, we thank you. We will continue to serve even in the darkest of days. We are servants here after all.

As for Rappler , focus on your tax evasion case.

That is your biggest accountability to us all.
