President Rodrigo Duterte welcomed a Pakistan ship on
Thursday docked at the Manila South Harbor as part of its three-day goodwill
visit to the Philippines.
The president also toured the ship and greeted the crew.
He was welcomed by officials of the Embassy of the Islamic
Republic of Pakistan to the Philippines and also the Pakistan Navy for an exclusive
tour inside the Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) SAIF (FFG-253), one of the four F-22P or
Zulfiguar-class frigates of Pakistan.
The president also told the crews aboard that they can visit
and drop by the country anytime, for any reason.
The chief executive was accompanied by his Cabinet members led
by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana during the tour which lasted for almost
an hour.
The Pakistan ship will stay in the country until December 17,
with a helicopter on board, skippered by Captain Shahzad Iqbal.
The said goodwill visit includes a series of confidence-building
engagements between the Philippines and the Pakistan Navy personnel. It also
promotes friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the navies of
the two countries.
Other activities also include shipboard tours, visit to
national heritage and some historical places in Manila.
PNS also docked in China and Thailand prior embarking in the
Philippines. It will stop next in Malaysia.
