Manila, Philippines – Secretary Mark Villar of Public Works
and Highways led the inauguration of the Php365-million worth Araneta-Magsaysay
flyover in Bacolod city on Tuesday.
The road is located in the southern part of Bacolod city,
which is also the second flyover after the one situated in Lacson street.
Sec. Villar said that DPWH wants to make the Bacoleños happy
this Christmas, thus, it fast tracked the completion of the said flyover.
“We assure you this is only the start. We have more projects
to be implemented here,” he added.
“Just opened the Araneta – Magsaysay Avenue Flyover in
Bacolod City. The bridge employs prefabricated modular steel technology, which
is expected to reduce carbon emissions “says DPWH chief on his Facebook post.
The Araneta-Magsaysay flyover is a double-lane pavement with
five spans of modular steel technology of French government’s Matierre S.A.S., four
piers with a total length of 195 lineal meters, and road approaches of 280
meters.
Villar also announced that DPWH is still conducting feasibility
study to be able to add more flyovers in Bacolod.
He added that Bacolod is one of the receiver of the “golden
age” infrastructure project of President Rodrigo Duterte under Build, Build,
Build program.
“Let us support him because he has a good plan for Negros
Island, especially Bacolod, because he
saw the potential of the city. He loves Negros so expect more projects here,”
he said.
Meanwhile, Bacolod local government was very pleased for it
will not only ease the traffic but will also contribute to the economic boost
and modernization of facilities when it comes to infrastructures in Bacolod.
