Reform activist on Noynoy Aquino: "It's precisely because of him that people hate the LP and the coalition bloc they lead"

It was in August when former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino first campaigned for opposition candidates in the 2019 mid-term elections, saying that he would serve as a check on the administration.

In a statement during a mass commemorating the 35^th passing anniversary of his father Ninoy, the former chief executive said that the results of the 2019 polls will determine if Filipinos still support the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Don’t just vote, campaign for them

He said that those who are against Duterte’s policies and pronouncements should not only vote for the opposition candidates but also campaign for them.

“Kung di ka sang-ayon, 'wag mo lang iboto ang ating mga kandidato. Ikampanya niyo pa sila, palakasin niyo ang magdadala ng tinatawag na checks and balances sa gobyerno,” Aquino said.

The former president even stressed that the future of the country is in the hands of his “bosses.”

“Kayo ang dapat masunod. Klaro po. Nasa inyong mga kamay ang ating kapalaranan,” he said.

Kiss of death

Meanwhile, Ateneo de Manila graduate and Reform activist, Orion Perez, thinks that Aquino’s campaigning for his bets was like giving them “kiss of death”.

On a Facebook post, Perez said that it would be because of Aquino that people allegedly hate the opposition.

“It's precisely because of him that people hate the LP and the coalition bloc they lead... Then again, it's good that he is campaigning for the opposition candidates: that all the more causes more people to really avoid those candidates.” Perez said

“Noynoy Aquino is a major liability: all we need to do is keep spreading videos about his multiple failures: Luneta Bus Hostage Masscre, Pork Barrel Scam, Haiyan/Yolanda botched aid, SAF44, Dengvaxia, etc, and immediately, everyone gets reminded that his team represents failure and mediocrity.” He claimed
