President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday (May 23) dares
the military to oust him if they want Vice President Leni Robredo to replace
him.
The Chief Executive said he would rather step down than
seeing soldiers killing each other in a coup d’état.
"Kahit idoble mo ang sweldo eh.
Magpapalakas ako? For what? Takot ako na i-coup d’etat ako ng police pati
military? If you want me out, tell me," said Duterte in a speech
"Sabi ko, kung mag-tindig kayo sa Army, Navy, Air
Force, pati si Albayalde, if you stand up together now, I am resigning. Huwag
na kayong mag-coup d'etat-coup d'etat. Sayangin lang ninyo yung pagod ninyo.
Ayaw ninyo ako? Sabihin ninyo bababa ako."
"Kung ayaw ninyo, magbaba ako. Bakit kayo magbarilan?
Hindi ako papayag na 'yung PSG magbarilan, kalokohan," he said.
"Ayaw ninyo ako? Okay. Uwi na ako. Sige… 'Yung babae na
ang presidente niyo. Kung mahusay siya eh di wala akong ano… Tatakutin ako ng
coup d'etat. Ah kalokohan 'yan," he added, referring to Robredo
Earlier, the President also dared the military to go to Senator
Antonio Trillanes IV, should they ever lose confidence in his leadership.
