Police officers are set to receive doubled salaries starting
January 15 payroll after President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Joint Resolution
No. 1.
The said document will authorize the base pay increase of military
and uniformed personnel.
Under the new table, a Police Officer 1 (PO1) would receive P29,
668 monthly salary, which is a 100 percent increase from their current pay.
On Thursday, Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesperson Chief
Sup. Dionardo Carlos said that an average increase of 58.70 percent for all
other ranks would be reflected on January 15 pay out.
This new scheme will be applied to all uniformed personnel
under the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) which would be implemented
in two tranches until next year.

However, Police Chief Supt. Joselito Vera Cruz, PNP Directorate
for Comptrollership, admitted that DILG’s budget could not accommodate a doubled
increase across all ranks. Nevertheless, he hopes that it will translate to
good service from the police officers.
“Siguro yung mga pulis natin ngayon na gumagawa ng kalokohan
maiisip nila yung mawawala sa kanila. Mahirap makahanap ng trabaho na ganyan
ang sweldo,” Vera Cruz said.
“Dapat sa mga kapulisan suklian natin ang pinapakitang
concern ng ating Congress, at pag-ibayuhin pa ang serbisyo,” he added.
