Vice President Leni Robredo expressed her respect and gratitude
to all the volunteers and supporters of Otso Diretso who have worked hard to
campaign the eight candidates.
On her weekly radio show over DZXL-RMN 558 last Sunday,
along with the slate’s campaign manager Senator Kiko Pangilinan, Robredo shared
stories of supporters who showed dedication campaigning the Otso Diretso.
She said, according to Politiko’s report, many of their supporters
who came from different walks of life used their own money to print Otso
Diretso’s campaign materials.
“Kapag nagbubukas kasi ng Facebook, nakikita ko, hindi namin
mga kilala, pero nakikita natin iyong mga ginagawang nakakabilib,” she said.
“Parang sasabihin mo, ‘Sobrang suwerte naman natin na
mayroon tayong mga taong ganito.’” She added
The vice president said that their growing supporters are
the constant source of inspiration amid the challenges including limited
resources and the current “political climate,” where many local officials are
afraid to show support for them.
During the radio show, Robredo also paid tribute
particularly to the volunteers killed in a road mishap in Baguio City recently, reading their names on air.
