During the continuation of Dengvaxia probe at the House on Monday, former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino admitted that if he was still the chief executive, if he would have also suspended the vaccination program of the government.

Aquino made the statement considering that Sanofi Pharmaceuticals disclosed the dangers of Dengvaxia anti-dengue vaccine.

During the joint hearing of the House Committees on Good Government and Public Accountability and Health, Aquino countered the changes of what Sanofi had promised in developing the dengue vaccine.

"Merong briefer na binigay sa akin sa pag-aaral sa isyung ito, at doon nakalagay na kaya dinevelop 'yung vaccine na good for all serotypes ay dahil nga 'yung posibilidad na mas malalang impeksyon kapag na-impeksyon ka ng ibang strain after nu'ng una," Aquino said.

However, if recalled, Sanofi later on announced that receivers of the vaccine who have not acquired the virus yet prior to vaccination might suffer severe case of Dengue in the long run.

Aquino said that the change of Sanofi’s statement could be a ground for suspension of anti-dengue vaccination program using Dengvaxia.

After Sanofi disclosed the side effects of Dengvaxia, the Department of Health then issued suspension of this government program in December 2017.
