107 wounded soldiers received medals




Manila, Philippines- Last August 10, a total of 107 troopers who were wounded while fighting the Maute group in Marawi and other parts of Mindanao, were decorated for their gallantry in a short ceremony held at the Army General Hospital in Taguig City.

Philippine Army spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Ray Tiongson said in a statement said that the soldiers were presented the Army’s Wounded Personnel Medal during the ceremony led by Army Support Command Head Major General Elmer Pabale.

The medal symbolizes that the Army recognizes the soldiers, bravery, professionalism and heroism, as they continue to bring national pride, Tiongson said.

"The Army also extended its gratitude to all its personnel in Marawi City and all over the country who continue to risk their lives to achieve just and lasting peace and stability for the country," Tiongson said.

As of Saturday, Marawi fatalities has been placed at 552 Maute terrorists, 128 government troops, and 45 civilians.
